GFEA Executive Board Members
GFEA is a union governed by its members and affiliated with the Montana Federation of Public Emplyees. GFEA's local Executive Board members are below. All of these leaders work for the members of GFEA and are, themselves, members in good standing.
Robert "Griff" Griffith - President
Robert "Griff" Griffith became GFEA President in October 2018. Retired from the US Military, Griff spent his entire teaching career at Great Falls High School, teaching mathematics. Prior to assuming the presidency, Griff was GFEA's 1st Vice President, and was previously Executive Board Member At-Large. Griff can be found each day representing GFEA members. As you can tell from his photo, Griff loves to smile.
Lance "Buck" Olson - 1st Vice President
Returning to Executive Board in 2019, Lance "Buck" Olson begins his second tour as First Vice President of GFEA. Buck teaches at East Middle School and has been a part of the GFEA bargaining team for several years.
Stephanie Olson - Secretary
A 22 year veteran of GFPS. Stephanie Olson is GFEA's Secretary-Treasurer, and has been for 18 years. She teaches 3rd Grade students at Chief Joseph Elementary, and previously taught at West Elementary. Stephanie is passionate about serving our members.
Alex Rosenleaf - High School Rep. & Webmaster
Alex Rosenleaf has been teaching for 11 years in GFPS, and has been GFEA High School Representative for two years. Alex teaches courses in US History, American Government, and Montana Studies, and pioneered many of GFPS's Online Social Studies course offerings.Alex is a proud graduate of The University of Montana in Missoula, and holds a Masters Degree from Western Governors University. Before coming to CMR, Alex was Indian Education Academic Achievement Coach, Literacy Outreach Coordinator for the Great Falls Tribune, and a GFPS Subsitute Teacher. Alex is the 2019 recipient of the GFEA Golden Key of Professionalism. In his spare time Alex enjoys cooking, movies, and spending time with his children - Hannah and Kennedy.
Amy Sterling - Middle School Rep.
Amy Sterling has been a Middle School Executive Board representative since 2018. A 22 year GFPS educator, Amy started her GFPS career as a Library-Media Specialist, serving at C.M. Russell High School, before transferring to East Middle School to teach literacy. This year she is transitioning to become East's new Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Amy is a proud graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, and holds a Masters Degree from Boise State University. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma, and has been a Jim McGarvey Scholar. She serves on the Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grant Committee, and is a Janette Rankin Foundation scholarship grader. In her spare time, Amy enjoys shopping at Target, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Eric Bush - Elementary Rep.
A 10 year GFPS educator, Eric Bush has been a part of the Executive Board since 2014. Eric teaches 4th grade at Whittier Elementary. Eric is a proud graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman. When he's not teaching, Eric enjoys time with his family, playing golf, and camping.
Cherie Stordahl - Elementary Rep.
A 2018 addition to the Executive Board, Cherie Stordahl has distinguished herself as a delegate to NEA-RA, part of Leaders for Just Schools, a graduate of the Teacher Leadership Institute, and a Jim McGarvey Scholar, as well as her work on many GFEA committees. In addition to her teaching and union responsibilities, Cherie is an assistant speech coach for CM Russell High School. She is also an avid baker. Cherie is the 2019 recipient of the GFEA Silver Key of Service.
Tom Cubbage - 2nd Vice President
Tom Cubbage has been GFEA's 2nd Vice President since 2016. A 26 year GFPS educator, Tom is past President of the Montana Science Teachers Association, and the Montana Forensic Educators Association. In addition to Biology, Tom has taught Speech and Debate classes, and was the longtime head coach of the C.M. Russell High Speech and Debate team. Prior to becoming 2nd VP, Tom served GFEA as a High School representative, and is a long-time Faculty Representative for CMR. Tom is the 2018 recipient of the GFEA Golden Key of Professionalism, and is one of three finalists for Montana's selection for the Presidential Science Teaching Award. In his spare time Tom enjoys applying science to cooking and spending time with his family.
Christine Sundly - High School Rep.
Christine Sundly returns to the GFEA Executive Board this year after having previously served as Vice President. Sundly teaches science classes at C.M. Russell High School.
Kristen Jacobsen - Middle School Rep.
Kristen Jacobsen won election to the GFEA Executive Board in 2019. Kristen teaches French at the GFPS Middle Schools.
Jolee Corey - Elementary Rep.
A 27 year veteran of the Great Falls Public Schools, Jolee Corey has been on GFEA Executive Board for 15 years as Elementary Representative. Jolee also serves on Budget Committee, Social Committee, and the Bargaining Team. A first grade teacher at Chief Joseph, Jolee was the 2015 recipient of the GFEA Golden Key of Professionalism and was a nominee for Montana Teacher of the Year in 2013. When she isn't teaching or working for her union brothers and sisters, Jolee enjoys spending time with her husband, socializing with family and friends, taking care of her three "fur babies", growing orchids, reading, and dabbling in interior design.
Heather Kakalecik - Elementary Rep.
Heather has served on GFEA Executive board for a spell. She teaches second grade at Lewis and Clark Elementary.
Jerry Ferderer - At-Large Rep.
A GFPS educator since 2003, Jerry Ferderer has been a member of the GFEA Executive Board since 2017. Jerry is a traveling literacy teacher for GFPS. He has attended the European Literacy Conference, and prior to coming to Great Falls taught at the Surprise Creek Colony school near Geyser. Jerry is an avid traveler, and has hiked Camino de Santiago.
