Latest from Eric Feaver (MFPE President). I urge you to contact your legislator about HB 27 TODAY (not on GFPS time or with GFPS equipment)
Today, on 2d reading, the House will consider HB 27 (Funk) that inflates special education funding. Special education is the only state funded school component that is NOT inflated. See email below I loaded up on my listserve January 31.
So, you have time this morning to let your House member know, it’s past time to apply an inflation factor to special education funding. Even if the bill passes the House today, however, it will be rereferred to House Appropriations for its consideration. HB 27 has a long and uncertain future ahead. Please give it a try.
Also in a couple of hours we will know if Senate Tax will give a Do Pass recommendation to SB 152 (Barrett) to make the 6-mill MUS levy permanent.
And later today, Senate Finance and claims will hear HB 175 (Dooling) – state and university pay plan AND HB 159 (Grubbs) funding k-12 schools for the coming biennium. So, as you take a moment to support HB 27 in the House, why not also take another moment to show your HB 175 and HB 159 support to Senate Finance.
Remember in regard to SB 152 and HBs 175 and 159 you can call 406 444 4800 or email https://leg.mt.gov/web-messaging/ and leave a message for entire committees, Senate Tax and Senate Finance respectively.
Keep your fingers crossed. These four bills could all pass their tests today.
